COT Kickoff Meeting - August 2026

This year’s COT Kickoff Meeting was held on August 16, 2026, at Oak Point Recreation Center in Plano, TX, from 2:00–5:00 p.m.

As people arrived, the event began with registration and volunteers chatting with their friends. Once the event started, everyone made their way to their seats. Some attendees were new to COT, while others were first-time officers.

We began with summaries of each division presented by the division president, including information about the officers, goals, and responsibilities for this academic year. The presenters highlighted the DFWeCare Back-to-School Event hosted by COT, where volunteers helped distribute backpacks and school supplies to local children in need. This effort supported families in the area by reducing the financial burden of school preparation and helped ensure that students were better equipped and ready for the upcoming school year. Then the first-time officers and new volunteers stood up and introduced themselves.

Afterward, we had a short break where volunteers enjoyed some snacks and had time to socialize. When the break ended, several volunteers shared their experiences with COT. Some talked about how COT helped them step outside of their comfort zones; while others shared stories about the children they teach and how much the children have grown.

Overall, the meeting was very efficient and productive. Next, we played a game of “Would You Rather.” One side of the room was designated as blue, while the other side was designated as red. Volunteers walked to either the blue or red side based on their choice and explained why they chose that side. This activity got everyone laughing and sparked some fun debates about which side had the better answer.

Before the meeting concluded, the officers gathered together to take some group pictures. Afterward, everyone helped clean up before heading home.

It was a great way to kick off the new year. We hope everyone has a wonderful and successful 2026–2027 year at COT!
